THE SEARCH PROCESS
The Schultz Group conducts
two types of searches for our clients: the contingency search and the
retained search. Every search, whether it's contingency or retained,
is as unique as the company, the position and the person. An understanding
of your needs at the beginning is critical to the selection of the appropriate
search process.
The Contingency
Search
A contingency search is appropriate
when our client needs to fill an open position immediately. In this
situation, the client knows exactly what they need and what they are ready
to offer to the right candidate. The skills and experience required
for the position are clear and the appropriate compensation package has
been approved. A contingency search can typically move forward on
an individual candidate-by-candidate basis.
The Retained Search
When we conduct a
retained search, we follow a tried-and-true process in order to find
the right person for a key position:
Create a
position profile
We
begin the placement process by working closely
with our client to create an accurate description
of the position along with a detailed candidate
profile. We become familiar with our
client's methods of operation, organizational
structure, and culture. We conduct in-depth
discussions with each person who will have input
in the hiring process.
Research and
qualify the best candidates
We
use our broad network of professional and industry
contacts to identify prospective candidates.
We research targeted organizations to identify
those individuals who may have the qualifications
required for the position. We then conduct
interviews with these potential candidates, both
by telephone and in person, to ensure that they
are both qualified for and interested in the
position. We perform preliminary reference
checks on candidates as an additional method of
evaluating their qualifications.
Present the
candidate
Once we have researched
and qualified the candidates, we provide formal assessments and confidential
resumes on those candidates most qualified for the position.
We present a slate of candidates from which the client chooses those
they will interview. The Schultz Group provides a valuable
service in facilitating the offer process. We are aware of the key
decision points for the candidates, and we ensure that every issue
is addressed and resolved.
