The Schultz Group helps leaders, organizations, and companies – from Washington and Wall Street to Hollywood and Silicon Valley – navigate the new landscape of media and influence. The traditional news cycle may be obsolete but speed, empathy, and credibility remain the touchstones of an effective communications strategy.
SERVICES
Public profiles must be built with purpose. The Schultz Group helps clients sharpen what they stand for, communicate it clearly, and make thoughtful decisions about when, where, and how to show up.
From message development and media training to strategic newsmaking and stakeholder engagement, we work with leaders to build credibility and expand their influence on their own terms.
A successful public affairs strategy recognizes that policy, communications, media, legal, and government relations can no longer operate as separate functions. A narrative is driven by how these functions align into an integrated strategy. The Schultz Group helps organizations understand the political and media landscape, see around the corner, and make smart decisions about how to engage.
From scenario planning and audience mapping to proactive communications strategies and tactics, we help clients mitigate risk, seize opportunities, grow their public presence, and maximize their impact.

MEET ERIC
Eric Schultz brings over two decades of experience at the highest levels of power in Washington to help clients across the financial, technology, entertainment, and philanthropic sectors navigate the national media and political landscape.
Schultz – now a senior advisor to former President Barack Obama – served as White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary, speaking on behalf of the Administration from the briefing room and Air Force One. He was originally hired to spearhead the White House response to congressional investigations after spending a decade on Capitol Hill, including stints as communications director to current Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, where he oversaw campaign messaging strategies across 18 competitive Senate races. He was Al Franken’s 2008 deputy campaign manager, and got his start in politics working for then-First Lady Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate bid.
Since leaving government, Schultz has become a trusted strategic advisor for major television and film studios, consulting on prominent projects including HBO’s Succession, A24’s Civil War, and Netflix’s Zero Day, The Diplomat, and Designated Survivor. He helped launch Higher Ground – President and Mrs. Obama’s production company – and is producing television and feature projects with leading studios and creative partners.
Schultz is originally from Syracuse, NY. He earned a B.A. in political science at Washington University in St. Louis and received the University's Distinguished Alumni Award. Schultz serves on the National Advisory Council for the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement and on the board of Reading Partners DC, a nonprofit organization promoting literacy among young students.
